From Side Project to Platform
Key milestones on the road to building a better hosting comparison
Maxim Gade launches hostometer from his home office in Germany. The initial version covers around 50 hosting providers with a straightforward comparison table. No investors, no marketing budget -- just a developer frustrated by the lack of honest information.
Provider count grows past 200. We introduce the user review system and add VPS and dedicated server categories. The pandemic pushes more businesses online, and thousands of new users discover the platform.
Advanced filtering, real-time pricing integrations, and colocation comparisons go live. We also ship the multi-language version (DE/EN) to better serve the European market.
We launch community features and expert review sections. GPU server and game server comparisons are added as the AI and gaming markets explode. Tens of thousands of users now rely on hostometer regularly.
We integrate AI-driven recommendation logic that matches users with providers based on their specific needs. Object Storage and DDoS protection categories are added. The platform now covers the full spectrum of hosting infrastructure.
